LAS VEGAS, Nov. 12, 2007Digital Check Corp., a leading provider of electronic check scanners for the distributed check capture industry, announced enhancements to the latest release of its TellerScan® application programming interface (API) software.  Among the enhanced features in the TellerScan API v8.70 release are support for the 64-bit version of Microsoft Vista® and the support of 120-dpi grayscale images in accordance with upcoming Canadian check truncation specifications.

Digital Check Corp. announced the availability of certified USB device drivers for the 64-bit version of Microsoft’s Vista operating system for its TellerScan check scanners. The 64-bit device driver provides higher processor performance and increased memory for financial institutions using 64-bit remote deposit capture applications. The new USB device driver also supports all of Microsoft’s major operating systems. Other API features include the support of 120-dpi grayscale images which will become the Canadian market standard for check truncation in 2008. Additionally, the Digital Check cleaning system has been enhanced to include a scan clean program function, which allows customers to more easily initiate the cleaning process.

The API v8.70 release makes available the remote monitoring capability, co-developed with Silver Bullet Technology, Inc. as part of a joint marketing agreement with the check scanning interfaces and tools company announced earlier this year. The remote monitoring application tracks scanner performance data, such as image quality, MICR read accuracy and remaining capacity of ink cartridges.  This information is organized and packaged so that support personnel can be notified in advance of projected maintenance or cleaning activities.
These capabilities are now available across all of Digital Check’s TellerScanÃ’ check scanners.

“We continue to leverage the power of our API to enhance our check scanning capabilities,” said John Gainer, executive vice president of Digital Check. “The enhancements within the 8.70 release make it easier for our customers to deploy, use and maintain their distributed check capture applications.”

The TellerScan API v8.70 release also includes enhancements in Digital Check’s Best Read ® MICR OCR verification. Digital Check was the first company to provide a MICR optical character recognition (OCR) verification capability for desktop check scanners, introducing the technology in 2002.  MICR read routines work together with OCR verification, using custom algorithms, to identify, evaluate and deliver the highest confidence MICR read rates and virtually eliminate MICR substitution errors.
