How do I run the scanner cleaning cycle using a Mac?
Current models (TellerScan TS250, CheXpress CX35, and SmartSource Elite and Micro Elite series units made after approximately 2018) have a cleaning mode activated by a button press on the scanner itself and do not need to interact with the host PC to use it. See your scanner’s user guide for more information about this process.
To clean older models such as the TellerScan TS240 or CheXpress CX30, first turn off the endorsement function, then use your deposit software to create a “dummy” deposit. Run the cleaning card through as if it were a regular check, and repeat this several times. Flip the card top-to-bottom or end-over-end after a few passes to ensure that a fresh part of the card contacts the rollers. When you are finished, delete the deposit. Wait 1-2 minutes for the scanner to dry before resuming scanning.
The ScanLite demo utility ordinarily used for cleaning CheXpress and TellerScan models is not available in a Mac version, so the above procedure is recommended.
