Clearing Paper Jams

Most scanners have a button-press sequence that will attempt to eject the jammed document by spinning the motors, which should be tried first before opening the scanner covers.
In general, it is recommended NOT to attempt to remove a jammed check by pulling it straight up, which can cause pieces of paper to tear off inside the track.
