Digital Check received a Top Innovator Award at BAI Orlando 2008, as one of the most innovative technology companies in banking by Bank Technology News, a leading banking industry publication.

The publication recognized Digital Check in its 7th annual ranking of The Innovators, which profiled the 25 most advanced people, companies and technologies in the financial services industry in its November issue. Digital Check is acknowledged for the exceptional contributions made as a leading provider of electronic check scanning technology that helps to increase the growth of remote deposit capture services among financial institutions.

img“Digital Check’s work to enhance the technology offerings in check scanning and remote deposit capture is commendable,” said Bank Technology News editorial director, Holly Sraeel. “Of particular note is the company’s focus to drive down cost so that more institutions’ customers can take full advantage of the technology—an important step in furthering adoption of check scanning and RDC services.”

“We were proud to be recognized as an innovator and for our ability to provide competitively priced, high-quality and reliable check scanning technology to banks serving both treasury and small business customers,” said John Gainer, executive vice president for Digital Check. “Our new CheXpress scanner and our RDC QuickStart™ low-cost financing program helped us earn this recognition, and helps increase the adoption and growth of our remote check capture industry.”

The CheXpress is the first, low cost check scanner with the ability to read difficult documents such as money orders, gel pen inks, and items with heavy backgrounds. The CheXpress also is the first small scanner with the ability to read, with very high accuracy, MICR data of varying quality including MICR codelines with magnetic intensity ranging from 40 to 200 percent due to it’s unique design allowing the document to pass the electronics twice. The scanner also supports 200, 240 and 300 dpi scanning in black and white, grayscale and color.

The new scanning device incorporates a number of capabilities designed specifically for the needs of the small and medium business customer. The energy efficient check scanner requires less energy by incorporating lower-power consuming components and provides automatic shutdown capabilities. The device also operates more quietly than typical check scanners.
