United Southern Bank (USB), a Lexington, KY bank with a number of utility company customers, switched to Digital Check’s TS240 scanner after experiencing customer satisfaction issues with their previous scanner brand.
Prior to implementing a merchant remote deposit capture solution, USB was processing a very high volume of checks brought in daily by its business customers. The checks would arrive at the branches between 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with bank personnel expected to process them before the end of their workday at 4:00 p.m. This involved scanning large batches of checks, correcting CAR/LAR reading errors, and completing the deposits. USB introduced remote deposit capture to reduce the daily volume of checks brought into the branches to be processed by their business customers.
After implementing Benchmark Technology Group’s Corporate Capture21 RDC solution, USB business customers initially experienced slower than expected scanner throughput using a competitive scanner brand. That led them to switch to the new TS240-100, with the expanded 100 item count check feeders and output pocket. The result was that USB customers significantly reduced scanning time, and increased productivity and satisfaction with USB’s remote deposit capture and Digital Check’s TS240 scanners. “I was concerned about our brand image and our customers’ experience with remote deposit capture” said Jane Boley, controller with United Southern Bank, “My concerns were eliminated when we switched to the Digital Check scanners as scanning speeds increased significantly making for a much improved customer experience from the other brand of scanners we had been using.”
With their customers happy with the results that they were now getting with their Digital Check TS240 scanners, these customers were now able to scan their own checks and correct occasional CAR/LAR read errors. USB was also able to reduce its own workload and extend the deposit cut-off for same-day availability from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. while still managing to meet the processing deadlines each day.
Boley added, “Security was one of my main concerns in implementing remote deposit capture and with the solutions from Digital Check and Benchmark we have addressed and resolved all of my concerns. I am extremely pleased with our program.”
Implementing remote deposit capture using Benchmark Technology Group’s Corporate Capture21 solution with Digital Check scanners has allowed USB to reduce the volume of checks being physically deposited at the branches each day and to strengthen its competitive position as well.
